Automobiles in Germany's City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were contacted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Police state they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then found many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.

A senior representative said the vandalism made him speechless and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
